Garden and self contained water fountains

Your garden fountain can come in a vast array of designs, shapes, sizes and materials. Today the best materials are lightweight and strong offering unmatched natural realism when used as a garden fountain. A garden fountain trend is to install fiberglass synthetic rock designs.

fountain in fiberglassAnother popular description for a garden fountain is the  self-contained water fountain. This means water is circulated within the system to create effect. No external piping is necessary since all is hidden within the self contained garden fountain itself. Many of these items contain ponds but of small size normally and the units only rarely contain fish. The one shown above could be used with a few small goldfish.

A garden fountain creates immediate character and can be used to draw attention. A garden fountain is an expressions of the owner. So you can get a classical garden fountain, a traditional garden fountain, a natural garden fountain and almost any other type of garden fountain that you can imagine.

For the last 10 years I have watched the evolution of the garden fountain market and seen remarkable changes.

Market leaders always used to make only stone or concrete indoor or outdoor garden fountain. Today these market leaders sell fibreglass and resin fountains in their place. The reasons are simple:

Cost of a fibreglass garden fountain is lower

A modern fibreglass garden fountain is extremely strong but very lightweight.

The degree of realism in a fibreglass garden fountain is now indistinguishable from the real thing when products from the leading manufacturers are chosen.

Problem Solving Your Water Fountains.

Assuming you have followed the information page on how to install the fountain correctly but the water is not flowing then do the following checks ...

Water not flowing down the fountain

Is the plug actually plugged into the socket and the socket is switched onIs there electric power to that socket ... check another item in the same socketIf you're sure there is power then open up the fountain pump remove the impellor and check that it is in good order and that the shaft for example is not broken. Read the information supplied by the pump company ... sometimes the pump can be "felt running" but there is still no water flow.

This indicates the impellor is not turningSome fountain pumps are supplied wit a clamp on te pump outlet line ... make sure this is not clamped shut.Check hose is connected to the pump. Sometimes this is "blown off"Check pipe is not restricted by clumps of algae or other debris.Make sure the pipe is not trapped under the heavy concrete and that the pipe is not kinkedMake sure the fountain pump is always fully submersed
